5-Day Kilimanjaro wonders Trekking Rongai Route. Experience Mt. Kilimanjaro Snow-capped Mountain and the highest mountain in Africa from the Rongai gate. The only route approaches Kilimanjaro from North close to Kenya border. This is the route with low traffic and good during the rainy season as it receives low precipitation. This is for the one who needs to hike a little too remote with a gradual slope than the other mountain’s route.
Day 1:Rongai Gate to first Cave Camp(2600m)
You will be picked from Arusha or place of your stay after breakfast to Rongai gate fro registration. Your climb begins at Nale Moru village’s cultivated land then to pine forest where you will watch Colobus monkeys then continue to the first camp on the edge of moorland where the forest start becoming thin. You will have overnight and accommodation in this cave camp.
Day 2: First Cave Camp to second Cave(3450m) then to third Cave Camp (3800m).
Early in the morning after breakfast you will start ascent to second cave camp where you will have a good view of kibo and Eastern ice fields on the crater rim. Thereafter you will continue trekking to third cave camp for overnight.
Day 3: Third Cave Camp – Kibo Hut(4700m)
After breakfast you will have a hike the eastern side of kibo passing through the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo then you will have a wonderful trip continuing to kibo hut camp for overnight.
Day 4: Kibo hut camp – Summit(Uhuru Peak)5896m – Horombo Camp
You will wake up early in the midnight and start climbing to reach Gilman’s Point (5681m) in time to have a wonderful view of sunrise. After that you will continue to the top of world’s largest freestanding mountain (Uhuru peak) where you will ave a wonderful moment and take more photos. Thereafter you will descend to the Horombo hut campsite for overnight.
Day 5: Horombo Camp Marangu gate.
Early in the morning you will start your descent trip to Marangu gate passing through Mandara hut with a view of flora and fauna. In the gate you be registered and awarded the certificate. If you will manage to get to the summit Uhuru peak you will have a gold certificate . And if your managed to end at Gilman’s point you will be awarded the green certificate. After that you will be driven back to Arusha or airport.
